RECORDING INFORMATION
Mahler, Haitink and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra — simply a marriage that has never had any difficulties since it began. Haitink has always had the good fortune of inheriting an orchestra which literally had Mahler coursing through their veins ever since the reign of Willem Mengelberg.

Here is Mahler’s passionate Ninth described by Leonard Bernstein once “as if like dying”.

The recording of the songs selected from Des Knaben Wunderhorn is one of the best recordings available in the extensive Mahler catalogue of Philips. Jessye Norman and John Shirley-Quirk are simply wonderful.

All this of course in 24 bits-96kHz sound especially for the Philips 50 series.
