RECORDING INFORMATION | |||
Viktoria Mullova is one of the most acclaimed and accomplished violinists in todays classical world. In this album, she revisits the musical world of her favourite pop and jazz artists through new interpretations for violin. Through the Looking Glass is the result. The album features works by Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Alanis Morissette, the Bee Gees and The Beatles. The arrangements are with different combinations of instruments including piano, cello, guitar and percussion following years of collaborative work with Matthew Barley. They aim to capture Viktorias own distinct musical style. Barley and Mullova have brought together musicians with enormous musical intelligence and completely open minds. Julian Joseph for instance is a renowned jazz pianist, composer and big band leader; percussionist Paul Clarvis has worked with Bernstein, Nyman and Elton John. |
