RECORDING INFORMATION | |
The compilation comprises all of Chopin's important
large-scale works for solo piano consisting of all his Sonatas, Scherzos
and Ballades coupled with the Barcarolle and Fantaisie.
With the exception of his first Sonata this issue assembles all of Chopin's big solo works that feature his most original musical thinking. The first Sonata was written early when Chopin was 17 and was dedicated to Joseph Elsner, his composition teacher. Adam Harasiewicz was First Prize winner of the Chopin competition in 1955! All these recordings, except the Barcarolle, the third Scherzo and the first Ballade, are making their first entry on CD in this compilation! Included in this Duo is the famous second Sonata which includes
Chopin's famous Funeral March. This piece is by far the top of the list of
repertoire used for sad
occasions. |
