RECORDING INFORMATION
Heinrich Schiff and Till Fellner collaborate magnificently on a recording of some of Beethoven's finest and most expressive chamber music. The repertoire has not been recorded by Philips since the early 1960s and as such represents a rare treat.

Schiff is one of the most highly regarded cellists today and has recorded extensively with Philips. The Viennese pianist, Till Fellner, was one of Alfred Brendel's most talented pupils. His recent professional debut was highly praised and he is still in his early twenties.

The sonatas define Beethoven's "early", "middle", and "late" periods with the two sonatas Op.5, through sonata Op.69 to the two sonatas Op.102, showing the marked development of his musical style.

PRESS QUOTES
"Fellner, as rhythmically rigorous as Brendel, finds a springing energy and hurtling momentum all his own. This last movement teems with idea and incident"
Gramophone, April 1998
