This recording took place in the Great Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna, a 'spiritual' home of Schubert. Mitsuko Uchida preferred this venue to any other as she feels that it is the most beautiful concert hall in the whole world and has an inspiring acoustic and is so closely related to Schubert.

Sonata No.16 is one of his most thoughtful and his greatest, while Sonata No.9 is much more cheerful and light but equally brilliant.
