- Bruch wrote three violin concertos of which only the First is heard with regularity in concert halls today. It is one of the staples of the concerto repertoire of all performing virtuoso soloists. The other two concertos also are of interest to music lovers, as they share with the Concerto No. 1 all of the same lush Romantic characteristics in the orchestration as well as virtuoso writing for the violin.

- The concertos are complemented by several even rarer works also scored for violin and orchestra. The most famous of these is the Scottish Fantasy which has numerous tunes recalling the Highlands of Scotland.
